With the delicious smell of melted cheese, vanilla and fresh pastry wafting through the air, I entered the Bread & More at Vasant Vihar with all smiles. Having to try and adore their goodies all my life I was desperate to try their new menu. So here I was standing inside their beautiful store, looking at cutlery, desserts and savories, thinking where to start. And when I did, I couldn’t stop <foodie problems>.
I decided to start with croissants- because I am big, big fans of these here. These flaky, gorgeous layers of pastry are glistened with butter that melt in the mouth like cotton. Almond, Gruyere, Cheese and Ham are my all time favorites.
Having to get my savoury fill, I finally began to try their just-out sweet treats. Bon Bon’s are one of them. These are highly recommended. Pop one in your mouth and allow the chocolate cream to ooze, making your insides gloss with the calorie load. The good kind of calorie load <obviously>. The caramel version of these, named as salty caramel tarts are equally good. These however are topped with whipped cream-but no one is complaining about that.
Totally enjoyed the macarons here. These gorgeously colored nuggets had a crunchy exterior, but a soft, crumbly interior. The filling is bang-on spot. Way better than the ones served at L’Opera. Try the lemon and passion fruit one to know how ambrosia ought to taste like.
And hey don’t get out from here before biting into the Canele. This crunchy flower looking cake has a creamy, custard-y center which is to die for. Or a cronut, or maybe both. The cronut is something I have been dying to try- since the time it had created a stir in the baking world. One bite and if I could, I would eat them for the rest of my life. The dough was as light and flaky as a croissant with a thick, lush chocolate glaze. Oh so, so good!
And if the sugar bomb hasn’t hit you yet, the Flan, the Basil Passion Fruit shot, the Mille-feuille and the Chocolate Crunch Pastry will definitely get you there.
I’d advise you to skip sugar for a few days when you come here. Do the cakes. Gorge on the biscotti. Order some hot tea. Put aside your phone and relish what you’re eating. When you here, you won’t be disappointed. Guaranteed.
P.S.- The new menu is finally out for everyone to try. Do visit their stores at GK1, Vasant Vihar or Punjabi Bagh for more.
